MASTERCLASS (2010) - HBO

MASTERCLASS is a nine-part series of arts education documentaries that premiered on HBO on April 18, 2010. Each half-hour program documents the experience of a small group of emerging young artists working with a notable mentor. The students in the program are awardees of the Miami-based arts organization, YoungArts. Each year, YoungArts selects 150 high school students from an applicant pool of over 7,000. The episodes feature artists Placido Domingo, Julian Schnabel, Jacques d'Amboise, Frank Gehry, Olafur Eliasson, Edward Albee, Bill T. Jones, Liv Ullmann, and Michael Tilson Thomas.
The series encourages young artists to pursue their dreams and hopes to help fill a void in arts education in our schools. It also highlights the importance of "passing it on," a message that resonates beyond the arts.
